The 5th Annual Bay Area Water for People: Reception and Film Event

Join us as we celebrate International Day of the Girl. Our featured speaker, Water For People CEO, Eleanor Allen, will discuss the role that women play in the global water and sanitation crisis. This year’s flm screening will be of the documentary, Women and Water (58 minutes), which presents the challenges that women in rural India face in providing water to their families. The event will include a reception with drinks and appetizers, raffe, and audience discussion.

Film Synopsis: From birth through to death, water plays an essential role in every stage of life. And in India, as with most poorer societies, it is women who are responsible for fnding water, and using it. Women and Water is a beautiful, poetic examination of Indian society through the prism of water and shows how this most elemental of resources is denied to the most needy. As so poignantly quoted in the flm, “Water gives life, just like women do”.

The film was directed and produced by Nocem Collado in 2013, and was the winner of the 2015 Green Film Network Award. To learn more about this event and sponsorship opportunities, please reach out to bayareawfp@gmail.com.
